Monterey Environmental Solutions and Services, MESS, was founded in 2013 with the purpose of creating a company that cared for it's workers, paid a fair wage, and provided services with integrity.  We're honored to serve the market with high quality abatement services and have worked hard to earn the respect that keeps us busy all year long.  


In 2018, we opened a second office in Santa Cruz, CA, expanding our services to the greater Central Coast area, with the aim to provide the same high quality service that built our reputation in Monterey.

Our main service is to remove materials that contain asbestos. Due to the age of most buildings in the Monterey Bay area, we're called on to remove asbestos containing materials in homes, commercial buildings, schools, and military facilities. Sometimes we're responding to emergencies such as fire and water loss and other times we're removing the hazards prior to a remodel. Either way, we're in the community removing hazards that could have negative health and environmental impacts if done without care. The safety and health of our employees and the community if our number one goal.

Operations Manager

Ryan has over 20 years of experience managing government and civilian projects involving construction, safety, and hazardous materials. Ryan takes clients through the often scary prospect of hazardous material, step by step. He'll lay out your options and mobilize his team and our local partners. He'll make you happy, and he'll keep your house safe!


Project Manager

Juan has worked in nearly every part of construction in the past 20 years. His expertise goes far beyond abatement. Juan is known for being hands on, often working the projects he oversees to make sure it is done right  He will walk your job site with you, give clear direction to his team, and inspect the project afterwards.


Project Manager

Mike Fort has over 20 years experience in the Environmental Services Industry. Mike has a innate ability to quickly assess the situation and concerns of the client and design the most effective solution. Mike was born & raised in Santa Cruz County and has always maintained a mind set that quality workmanship & good customer service will never go out of style.

Asbestos and Lead Worker

Asbestos and lead workers remove hazardous building materials using methods described in state and federal regulations to prevent environmental contamination and protect people from exposure to health hazards.  


The work is performed by setting up containments around their planned work space, setting up negative air machines calculated to ensure at least 4 air changes per hour, and removal of hazardous materials is done while wearing respirators rated for the level of exposure and personal protective equipment such as hazmat suits, boots, gloves, and eye protection. 


Asbestos and lead workers attend initial certification training, pre-employment medical exams including chest x-rays, and attend annual refresher training.

Compensation and Benefits​

Experienced certified asbestos workers are $18-$30/hour depending on experience.

Paid training, certifications, and medical exams.
